Milford Gene Mosher, age 84, passed away March 20, 2026 at home.
Gene was born May 31, 1941 in Norwich Township of Missaukee County.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Jean Ray on June 15, 1973 in Holly, Michigan, Oakland County.
After reading several obituaries for examples of what to include, I find it good to know their accomplishments, but sad to think the opportunity to know that person is gone.
On Gene's wedding to Jeannie, he had skydivers parachute at the reception with a box of roses strapped to ones leg for his bride. That started the spoiling!
For 25 years we first co-hosted, then hosted the Wagner Family Reunion in Lake City.
Gene built a pavillion for it and ten horseshoe pits, fenced in, so children couldn't play in the parking area. I said it was our annual vacation.
Gene didn't want to spend money at the casino, but when Jeannie would ask if she could go, his favorite saying was “have you left yet?”
Gene was a butcher of meat and liked to say he changed to be a “wood butcher”; building homes. He was a self employed carpenter/builder in Oakland County area for 30 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and finally received a bear permit. A bear rug reminds us of his success.
Life is short; dance before your knees or hips need replacing; I'm rambling now, sorry!
Gene is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Jean Mosher and children from his first marriage to JoAnne Harlow: Timothy Gene (Karian) of Fenton and Barbara Ann Mosher of Houghton Lake and a granddaughter, Alexis Kay.
He is also survived by brothers: Dean Mosher of Lake City and Bill (Jackie) Mosher of McBain.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents: Doris and Orin Brown, and sisters, Bonnie Adams, Lois Barker and Alice Straw.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 noon on May 9, 2026 at the Norwich Township Hall in Moorestown.
