She was born Oct. 29, 1942, in International Falls, MN. She graduated from International Falls High School and went on to earn a teaching degree from Bemidji State College. She initially taught at the Red Lake Indian Reservation in Minnesota. She moved briefly to St. Louis, MO, and then moved to Michigan in 1970. She began teaching for Crawford AuSable School District and eventually retired from the district in 1995, after positively affecting the lives of hundreds of children. She enjoyed playing many games, but had a real penchant for dummy rummy, Yahtzee and slot machines. She was an avid reader of many different novels, but she especially enjoyed books that had suspense and intrigue. She spent years studying graphoanalysis and applied it in many areas of her life in the Houghton Lake and Grayling areas.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and Ercel (Helmer) Martinsen; husband, Roger Fagerlie; brothers-in-law, Mick Myhera, Dr. Vernon Blaha, M.D., and Bob Hilke; nephews, Timmy, Ronny and Bobby; and sister, Cathryn (Hugh) McCoy.
