Nellie Anne (Grauman) Fortner

McBain, Michigan - Nellie Anne Fortner, of Marion passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Autumnwood of McBain. She was 72.

Nellie was born on December 7, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan to Leonard Elliot and Helen Marie (Roland) Grauman. She entered into marriage with William T. Fortner Sr. on May 5, 1986 in Taylor, Michigan. The couple relocated to Marion for their retirement. Nellie enjoyed spending time outdoors watching the deer, feeding her pet chipmunks and tending to her garden. She loved being up-north and often made special road trips around Michigan including to Mackinaw, Frankfort and Frankenmuth. Nellie liked shopping, especially through QVC. She was an avid U of M fan and liked watching football games. Nellie cherished the time spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Nellie is survived by her husband, William T. Fortner Sr. of Marion; children, Teresa (Brian) Wentworth of Holly, Michigan, Carrie (David) Hoskins of Williamston, Michigan, Michele (Josh) Opincar of Phoenix, Arizona, and Kathleen (Frank) Higgins of Howell, Michigan; step-son, William "Bill" T. (Jacki) Fortner Jr.; grandchildren, Kara, Raymond, Zakkery, Arabella, Calista, Jaycov and D.J.; great-grandson, Donovan; siblings, Marlene, Richard, Chris and Denise; and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Helen; and a sister, Dorothy.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.
