Norma Mulder Obituary

Harrietta - Norma Gail (Gregory) Mulder, of Harrietta and formerly of Hastings, Cadillac, Lakeview and Ionia County, passed away at home with family, and cat, by her side on Saturday, April 5, 2025. She was 78.

Born to Donald and Marion (Jones) Gregory, on March 21, 1947, in Portland, MI. Norma was one of eight children growing up in Berlin Township, Ionia County.  Norma and all of her siblings attended school at Coon School, a two room schoolhouse still operating today. Norma was a member of the 1965 graduating class from Ionia High School.  On July 26, 1973 she entered into marriage with Robert Jack Mulder, better known as "Muldoon".  The couple celebrated nearly 45 years together before his death in 2018.

Norma started employment in 1971 at the Michigan State Police headquarters in Lansing, eventually retiring from the State of Michigan's Department of Health and Human Services as a case manager. For a number of years Norma and Muldoon owned and operated the local watering hole "Muldoon's Welcome Tavern" in Hastings, MI.  In younger years, Norma enjoyed 4-H and was recognized and decorated as a 4-H member for her years of excellence and dedication.

She enjoyed volunteering for the Michigan Cancer Society in addition to the various VFW posts where they lived.  Norma could often be found having fun, golfing, bowling, and most importantly spending time with her family; including her many nieces and nephews who she was very fond of.  She also was a member of several civil, social and philanthropic groups.  She will be deeply loved, missed and remembered.

Norma is survived by her loving son, Andy Adams of Harrietta; granddaughter, Grace (Adams) Smith and husband, Henson of Tucson AZ;  her step-daughter, Marilou (Chris) Chambers or Hopkins; grandchildren, Michelle (Dominic) Sheffler of Spring Lake and their children, Nic, Emma, and baby Luna; Kristin (Blake) Bosworth of Munising and their daughter, Haley; Cory Mulder of Newberry, Brandon Mulder of Ionia, and Joshua Mulder of Kalamazoo; sister-in-law, Carol Gregory; four siblings, Carol Jean (Steve) Price of Lake Odessa; Jerry (Judy) Gregory, Perry (Margaret) Gregory, all of Ionia, and Richard "Elmer" (Pam) Gregory of Sheridan;  as well as many other loving family members and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Russell, Lois, and Larry; and lifelong best friend, Linda Cooper.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date this summer at the Steele Street Hall in Ionia. In Lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Norma may do so by directing memorial contributions to the Gregory Family Scholarship Fund in care of Jerry Gregory at 3601 S. State Road, Ionia, MI  48846.
