Norman Herring Obituary

Cadillac - Norman Carroll Herring, longtime resident of Cadillac, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at home with his family present. He was 76.

Norm was born on January 5, 1942, in Reed City, Michigan to Perry (Duke) and Tressa (Rogers) Herring. He grew up and attended school in the Reed City area. In 1966 he followed employment relocating to Cadillac. Norm was gifted with mechanical talent and after working for the Cadillac Candy Company he began a long career in construction and small engine repair that would span the vast majority of his life. From early beginnings as a journeyman with Northwood Electric, Norm grew his business and became a well known contractor and general fix-it man owning and operating "Norm's Repair".

Norm cherished the time around the table as a proud member of the Kountry Kitchen Coffee Clutchers. He had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and woodworker. He truly enjoyed yearly trips to Canada in search of bear or his next big catch. Norm spent many years enjoying the open road on his fully dressed Honda Goldwing and as a part of the Michigan Road Riders. On July 1, 1995, Norm entered into marriage with the former Karan Bumb at their home in Cadillac.

Norman is survived by his wife, Karan Herring of Cadillac; daughters, Lannette (Alan) Campbell, Bobbi Jo Burgess Denise Hanses, Jacki Denison, Stacy (Mike) Kendziorski and Son-In-Law Nick Robinson; grandchildren Scott Campbell, Matthew (Kazuko) Campbell, Jessica (Claude) Cutler, Jacob Freese, Dylan Fockler, Kalib Robinson, Kevin (Nicole) Hanses, Kyle Hanses, Derick Hanses, Brad (Michelle) Davidson, Kasey (Sarah) Davidson, Corey (Amber) Nielsen, Keegan (Jessica) Nielsen, Christopher Kendziorski, Joshua Kendziorski; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Deloris Wood, Dale Herring, Sharon Marcellus and Larry Herring, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his, parents; a daughter, Tammy Jo Robinson; sons-in-law, Dennis Dewey, and Jeff Denison; grandson, Devin Bell; great-grandson, Riley Blackford; siblings, Ivoliene "Toots" Todd, Myrtle "Sis" Thrasher, Mary Spaugh, Delaphine "Peanie" Russell, Perry "JR" Herring, Vernon Herring.

Visitation will be held at the Cadillac Christian Reform Church on Thursday, November 29, 2018, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm and in the evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will follow on Friday, November 30, 2018 also at the church beginning at 11:00 am, with Rev. Jeff Kroondyk officiating

Interment will be at the Chase Township Cemetery.    Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
