Parker Seiler Obituary

Parker F. Seiler, age 97, of Prudenville passed away on Monday October 30, 2023 at home.

Parker was born on March 30, 1926 in East Jordan, Michigan to John and Cora (Moseley) Seiler. He graduated from East Jordan High School. Parker entered the US Navy in 1944 and served in the Pacific area. After being honorably discharged in 1946, he began his first of four adventures to Alaska, the last being a walk from Seattle to Fairbanks in 1965. His final adventure was rowing a small boat from St. Paul to New Orleans in 1967.

Parker graduated from Central Michigan University in 1960 and taught elementary school students for 37 years, mostly in the Houghton Lake Schools. He met Darlene Wainwright in 1968 and they were married August 17, 1969. The couple lived in Lake City for 6 years before moving to Prudenville in 1975. Parker was a bicyclist for most of his life and has logged 35,000 miles throughout 48 states. Other hobbies included making snow sculptures at Tip-Up-Town, ski resorts and Lake James for 66 winters. Parker was also known by "Sparkie" and "Captain Big Buttons". Darlene was the love of his life and the couple shared 54 years together. She took wonderful care of Parker.

Parker is survived by his loving wife; Darlene Seiler, children; Corinne (Scott) Smith and Denise Mey, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Deborah Lee, siblings; Allan, Mary, John and Galen.

Per Parker's wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life may be held at a later date. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel handled the arrangements. You may express your condolences to the family at www.christler-holdship.com
