Patricia "Pat" Foster Obituary

Patricia “Pat” Joyce Foster, of Lake City, was welcomed home to be with the Lord on March 3, 2025.

Pat was born on September 12, 1934, to Harry and Margaret Gray in Lake City, Michigan.  On June 3, 1984, she married Almond “Al” Foster in Lake City.  They were married 24 years at the time of his passing.  Pat lived in Lake City for most of her life.  She was raised attending the Lake City Free Methodist Church, and she graduated from Lake City in 1952. Her teaching career began in a one-room school house Caledonia, and later she taught 1st grade in Newhall and Houghton Lake.  After leaving teaching, she worked at the Lake City telephone company for several years before becoming her mother’s full time caretaker.  She enjoyed children and babysat for friends and for her grandchildren. Family was important to her, and she welcomed her brother, sisters and their families for frequent visits.   She and Al traveled together to Cancun and Italy and to Disney with grandchildren.   Pat loved to spend time at the Missaukee County beach.  Her hobbies included knitting, feeding “the critters,” collecting Santa Bears, and caring for her cats and strays.  Pat was also a breast cancer survivor.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Almond Foster; parents, Harry and Margaret Gray; siblings, Marguerite (Joe) Whitney, Agnes (Forrest) Baker, Raymond "Bud" Gray, Mary (Al) Aguirre, George (Pat) Gray; and grandson, Patrick Foster.

While Pat did not have biological children of her own, she is survived by Al’s children, Philip (Gloria) Foster, Paul Foster, and Peggy (David) Phillips; grandchildren, Beth (Dan) Sexton, Victoria (James) Davis, Stephen Foster, Julie and John Peer, Tina Hamel, Taylor Phillips, Kassie (Cody) Richardson, and Jeff Foster (Shelby Vaillancourt); along with 20 great grandchildren; 22 great- great grandchildren; and 1 great- great-great grandchild.

Internment will take place at Lake City Cemetery in the spring.
