Phyllis Booth Obituary

Phyllis June Booth, of LeRoy, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was 93.

Phyllis was born on August 27, 1932, in Bay City, Michigan to George and Dorothy (Sharrard) Worden. She was a graduate of Cadillac High School. Phyllis entered into marriage to Howard "Paul" Booth on March 22, 1952, in Cadillac, Michigan, and celebrated 73 years together before his passing on June 28, 2025. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and family in Northern Michigan in younger years, to a time later in life where the couple visited with their family while camping at Osceola County Park, on the banks of Rose Lake. They retired to a home on Rose Lake in LeRoy.

She dedicated 20 years of her professional life as a secretary at Pigeon Elementary School, working alongside her husband. Phyllis was known for her warm smile, steady presence, and genuine care for students and staff alike. Her contributions left a lasting mark on the school and all who walked through its doors. Beyond her career, Phyllis gave generously of her time and heart to others. For two decades, she was an active and devoted member of the Covenant Women’s Group, where she helped raise thousands of dollars in support of numerous charitable causes. Her compassion extended especially to children, and she took great pride in creating handmade stuffed animals for Project Christmas and the Rose Lake Youth Camp, bringing comfort and joy to many young lives. Phyllis found deep fulfillment in her faith and church community. Alongside her beloved husband, Paul, she joyfully taught youth group, nurturing and guiding the next generation with wisdom, patience, and love. She was actively involved in church activities and found happiness in fellowship and service. At home, Phyllis shared many cherished moments with Paul, especially through their love of crafting and woodworking. Together, they created not only beautiful pieces but also a lifetime of memories rooted in creativity and partnership. Phyllis had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved. She embraced people exactly as they were, and to all who had the privilege of knowing her, she became “Grandma Booth.” Her home was a place of warmth and belonging, where visitors quickly became family.

Phyllis is survived by four children; Andy (Judy) Booth, Randy (Kathy) Booth, Paul (Barb) Booth, and Corinne Booth; grandchildren, David (Kendra) Booth, Tim (Emily) Booth, Matthew (Molly) Booth, Scott (Amy) VanScoy, Brad (Krissy) VanScoy, Brian (Mindy) VanScoy, Emily Booth, and Alex Booth; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Cora Higel;  as well as many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Booth; an infant son, Robert James Booth; her parents, George and Dorothy Worden; and a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Don Ealy.
