Robert George Elwell, 80, of  Houghton Lake passed away following a long battle with Dementia, on Wednesday October 29, 2025 at his home with his loving wife by his side.

Robert was born on October 19, 1945 in Los Angeles, California to Oral and Louise (McDonald) Elwell. Robert grew up in the Los Angeles area and graduated from Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton, Ca.  Following High School he went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska.  Robert served in the Marine Corp Reserves for several years.  In 1975 Robert met a young lady at a bus stop in San Francisco. Then on August 4, 1984 in Flushing, Mi. Robert was married to the young lady from the bus stop,  Suzanne Marie Malosky. The couple were together for over 50 years, first living in San Francisco, then moving to the Houghton Lake Area 27 years ago to be closer to Suzanne's family.  The couple owned and operated Tops Donuts in Houghton Lake for 14 years. Robert had worked as an Auto Salesman for many years in California. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his two beagles.  He was an avid baseball player and fan.  Spending his early years playing baseball through his high school years.  He watch baseball on television and held season tickets to his team, the San Francisco Giants for many years.

Surviving Mr. Elwell are his loving wife of the past 41 years, Suzanne Elwell of Houghton Lake; two sister-in-laws, Diane(Johnny) Walker, and Kathy(Larry) Fargo; also several nieces and nephews.  Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Caryl Maniscalco. 

Private Family Celebration of Life Services will be held for Robert George Elwell at a later date.  Memorial contributions in memory of Robert are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter or the ASPCA, PO Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929.
