Robert James Morford

Robert James Morford, loving husband of Shirley Ann (Johnson) and father of six children, passed away on October 6, 2018 at the age of 89.

Bob was born on September 24, 1929 in Pontiac, Michigan to Perry “Leland” and Violet “Babe” (Allen) Morford.  He worked at GMC for 40 years.  On September 13, 1948 he married Shirley Ann Johnson.

Bob loved the peaceful existence he had living in the woods on the patch of land he cleared.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents, two children Marcella Jo and Robert James Jr., a grandson Keith Emerson Willard as well as brothers Raymond (Gloria) Morford,  Lelan “Bud” (Eva) Morford, and William (Bobbie) Morford and sisters Almeta (John) Sapelak, Iris (John) Todoroff, Elsie (Charles) Kammerer, Marian (Bobbie) Frailey, Grace (Richard) Kidd and  Constance (Jack) Atherholt,  .  He is survived by four daughters, JoAnne (Richard) Severn, Phyllis Allen, Wanda (Carl) Vonderahe and Karen (John) Shotwell.  Additionally, he is survived by nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, one brother, Hugh (Pat) Morford, and two sisters Caroline (Melvin) Haveman and Linda (Wendell) Millstead.  He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 10:00 am Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Young-Holdship  Funeral Home at 403 S Pine Street, Lake City, MI, followed by the service at    11:00 am, with  Pastor Brent Michell officiating.

Burial will take place in the Aetna Township Cemetery.

Donations in lieu of flowers were requested by Bob to be made to Heartland Hospice, 865 S. Cedar St., Mason MI  48854.
