Roger "Hodge" Rogers Obituary

Roger (Hodge) Allen Rogers, age 68, passed away peacefully in his home on February 2, 2026.

Roger was born on October 29, 1957, in Flint, Michigan, and later moved north to live on the lake, where he embraced a quieter, simpler way of living. He graduated from Houghton Lake High School in 1975. It was during his life’s journey that he met Karen, and together they fell in love and built a life rooted in family, commitment, and shared experiences. Roger and Karen were married on July 7, 1984, and remained devoted partners throughout their life together.

Roger was a proud and skilled tradesman, working for many years as a master electrician with Arrow Homes and Riverland. He took great pride in his work, his craftsmanship, and the friendships he built along the way, forming lasting bonds with many coworkers and friends.

Roger found joy in time spent with family and in the hobbies that brought him peace and fulfillment. Between his sons, Derek and Alex, and his grandchildren, Konnor and Belle, some of their favorite memories were made fishing, playing in the pool, tackling household projects, and learning—above all—to keep life easy. He greatly enjoyed golfing, spending many hours on the course and proudly achieving a hole-in-one during his years of play. He also had a deep love for hunting and treasured time spent in the woods, especially at his cabin in Merritt, where he found solitude, reflection, and connection with nature.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Karen Rogers; his mother, Winifred Rogers; his sons, Derek Rogers and Alex Rogers; his daughter-in-law, Alicia Rogers; his grandchildren, Konnor and Belle; his sister, Randee; and his brother, Garth. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pat Kozlowski, the EMTs, and to the many family members and friends whose kindness, love, and support have meant so much during this difficult time. Many of these friends have been like family to us, offering care, guidance, and constant support. In accordance with Roger’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
