Roland Arnold Obituary

Roland Rudolph Arnold, faithful servant of Jesus Christ, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and patriot of his country, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Brookdale Senior Living Home in Novi, Michigan, at the age of 98.

Roland was born to Charles and Rebecca Lucille (Foy) Arnold of Plain Dealing, Louisiana, on February 9, 1927. The 13th of 14 children, Roland lived in Louisiana till the age of 13, when he moved with his family to Michigan. He went on to answer the call of duty, serving in the United States Army Air Corps, 27th Division, as an Infantry Corporal in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was the recipient of the Asiatic/Pacific Ribbon, Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, and the Medal of Japan for his services.  Upon his return, he was united in marriage to Joanne Doris (Hardy) Arnold of Detroit, Michigan, on October 16, 1948. The couple raised three children while pursuing entrepreneurial careers.

Upon Retirement, Roland would spend time traveling with his wife, Joanne. A great lover of the outdoors, Roland enjoyed camping and fishing. He was an extremely active member of his church community and is remembered for his eagerness to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ and his willingness to care for the needs of others. He had a deep love for his family and cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is cherished for the many sweet memories of laughter and passion that he shared with his family and dear friends over the years.

Roland is survived by his loving wife of 76 years, Joanne Arnold; children, Michael (Karen) Arnold, Wendy (Michael) Turley, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rebecca Arnold, four brothers, nine sisters, son Bruce Arnold, daughter-in-law Anna Arnold, and daughter-in-law Teresa Arnold.

An honorable committal service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
