Roland Jay Costello Sr., 80, of  Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at their daughter's home in Houghton Lake with his loving family by his side.

Roland was born as one of a set of triplets, along with one brother and one sister, on September 30, 1945, in Carson City, Michigan, to George and Bernadean (Raymond) Costello. He grew up in the Evart area, where he attended Evart Public Schools.  Roland was married on July 22, 1967, in Cadillac to Linda  Kay Barber. He worked for Max's Service in Traverse City for many years before retiring. Roland and Linda were very active in their Meauwataka community.  The couple were caretakers at Meauwataka Lake Park for many years. Roland was the Colfax Township Constable, fireman on the Colfax/Greenwood Fire Department, Sexton at the Meauwataka Cemetery, and a member of the Traverse City VFW Post.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid golfer, and especially loved spending time with his family. 

Surviving Mr. Costello are his loving wife of 58 years, Linda  Kay Costello of  Traverse City; two daughters, Rhonda (Allen Mercer) Costello of Houghton Lake, and Robin (Mark Straton) Mongar of Cadillac;  son, Roland J. (Suzanne) Costello Jr. of Traverse City; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three sisters, Regina Weatherwax of WI, Sherry Woodbury of Evart, and Janet (Chuck) Knapp of Grayling; brother, George (Mindy) Costello Jr. of Lambertville; several nieces and nephews.  Roland was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Connie Costello; two brothers, Reginald Costello and David Costello; son-in-law, Rusty Mongar; brother-in-law, Ron Weatherwax; and sister-in-law, Rachel Costello. 

A Celebration of Life Service for Roland Jay Costello Sr. will be conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Revival Center Church, Cadillac, 5676 E M55, Cadillac, MI, with Pastor William Markham officiating.  Memorial contributions in memory of Roland are asked to be directed to the family.
