Ronald Hill

Lake City - Ronald Lewis Hill, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Maple Ridge Living Center in Lake City. He was 89.

He was born on May 11, 1937, in Lake City, Michigan, to Lewis and Uretta (Coon) Hill. Ronald entered into marriage with the former Evelyn Bartholomew on April 15, 1972, in Lake City. 

Ron began his working career at the Lake City Creamery before getting involved with a road construction crew.  He moved his way up, starting as a cone setter and stripper to eventually becoming a foreman.  Ron took great pleasure in the outdoors and the simpler things of life.  He most often could be found outdoors tending to his very large garden and yard.  Ron truly had a green thumb and could fill the pantry, and then some, with the bounty of his garden's fruits and vegetables.  In earlier years, Ron could be found picking on a guitar or strumming a banjo and was even fortunate enough to play music at a few local establishments.   He will be deeply missed and remembered for his hard work.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Evelyn Hill of Lake City; his son, Jody Hill of Marshall; grandchildren, Ameleah, Rieyker, and Haley Ann; two sisters, Ginger Hellman, and Beverly (John) Lydic; sister-in-law, Sharon Hill; as well as many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son in infancy, Scott Hill; and one brother, Larry Hill.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Lake City United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at the Lake City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Larry Gorton Talking Book Library in care of the Traverse Area District Library.
