Ronald "Ron" F. Uphoff

Ronald "Ron"  F. Uphoff, age 89, of Houghton Lake passed away on Sunday August 29, 2021 at Crawford Continuing Care Center. 

Ron was born on July 3, 1932 in Freeland, Michigan to Earl and Edna (McLeese) Uphoff. He served in the US Navy. Ron served on 5 cruisers during the Korean Conflict. He was a Navy musician. Ron was married on August 13, 1960 in  Paw Paw, Michigan to Lenore Feige. He retired from Van Dyke public schools where he was a band director. Upon his return he attended Western Michigan where he received his Bachelor's degree in music education. He received his Master's degree from Wayne State University. The couple moved to Houghton Lake in 1994 from Warren. He was a lifetime member of the Houghton Lake Elks, Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and American Legion. He enjoyed bow and rifle hunting and golfing at Pineview Highlands Golf Course and Burning Oaks Golf Course.  

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 61 years; Lenore Uphoff of Houghton Lake, daughter; Renae Early of Galloway, Ohio and son; Ronald Uphoff II "Fritz" of Center Line, two grandchildren; Alex Early and Kristen Early. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister; Sheryl.  

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Houghton Lake Elks Lodge on Saturday September 4, 2021 at 4 pm. The family will greet friends from 3 pm until the time of the service. Interment will be in Crestview Cemetery. In-lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Houghton Lake Elks Lodge.
