It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rosemary Elkins (Saviano, Daniels), known as Rose to many. She was 79 years old when she peacefully passed away on December 24, 2025, at her home on Houghton Lake, Michigan, with her loving husband by her side, surrounded by family and close friends.
She was born on July 23, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Salvatore James Saviano and Nancy Saviano (Zasa). Rosemary previously lived in Detroit and Southgate, Michigan, prior to Houghton Lake, Michigan. The majority of her career was as Head Cashier at Danny’s Foods and Save-O-Lot. She also worked at R.L. Polk and at a Bank.
Rosemary is survived by her loving husband of 40+ years, Gregory Elkins; her sons Bruce Lee Daniels (Kellie), Anthony James Daniels (Jodi), Myles Jason Daniels (Jennifer), step-son, Mathew Elkins (Erika), and 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Rosemary found joy in cooking, baking, bowling, bike riding, going to craft shows/festivals, attending concerts, crocheting blankets as gifts for family or friends, reading books, visiting waterfalls and lighthouses, fishing, listening to classic rock music, and watching sports, especially the Detroit Tigers baseball. Whether she was coaching girls’ softball, spending time with family, or helping others, she brought warmth and laughter wherever she went. Those who knew her will remember her for qualities such as her softball coaching abilities, honesty, resilience, humor, generosity, and wisdom.
Although our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in the countless memories she created and the love she shared so freely. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, and in the family she loved so deeply.
