Ruth Yvonne (Kaus) DeWitt

Ruth Yvonne DeWitt, 89, of  Roscommon passed away on Friday July 16, 2021 at Munson Hospital in Traverse City.

Ruth was born on October 14, 1931 in Duluth, Minnesota to Arthur and Helen(Nelson) Kaus. As a youth Ruth moved to the West Branch area with her family where she graduated from West Branch High School,  Ruth was married on September 17, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan to Frank B.  DeWitt.  The couple lived in the Warren area before retiring and moving to the Houghton Lake area in 1987. Ruth was an avid bingo player, and enjoyed traveling and crocheting.  She was a very caring person and would be there to help anyone that needed assistance. Her special love was being with family and family gatherings.

Surviving Mrs. DeWitt are her daughter, Peggy Lyp of Summerfield, FL; two sons, Charles A.(Sally) DeWitt of Roscommon, and David DeWitt of Roscommon; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; brother, James (Alice) Kaus of South Port, FL; nieces and nephews.  Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank B. DeWitt; son, Donald Lee DeWitt; daughter, B.J. Richardi; and sister, Joy Jones. 

Funeral Services for Ruth Yvonne DeWitt will be conducted by the family at 4:00pm Wednesday July 21, 2021 at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel.  Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 21, 2021   from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel.  Memorial contributions in memory of Ruth are asked to be directed to the family.
