Ruth L. (Miksys) Grunas

Ruth L. Grunas, age 95, of Houghton Lake passed away on Thursday January 6, 2022 at Munson Healthcare-Grayling Hospital with her daughter by her side.

Ruth was born on May 2, 1926 in Dearborn, Michigan to Paul and Mary Miksys. She was married on November 15, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph "Frank" Grunas. The couple moved to Houghton Lake in 1976 from Southfield after retiring. She was a member of St. James catholic Church, a volunteer at St. Vincent dePaul for over 20 years. Ruth was very active and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, knitting and sewing, she would make many of the clothes that she wore.

Ruth is survived by her daughter; Nancy Vetter of Ann Arbor, grandsons; Steve (Mac) Hafele and Scott Hafele, six  great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Frank, grandson; Joseph Hafele, brother; Daniel Miksys and sister; Violet Werth.

Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth L. Grunas will be conducted at St. James Catholic Church on Wednesday January 12, 2022 at 11 am with  Father Bernard Tyler officiating. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, Michigan on Thursday January 13, 2022 at 1 pm. Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 11, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel and on Wednesday January 12, 2022 at the church from 10 am until the time of the service.
