Ruthann Strange Obituary

Ruthann I. Strange of Cadillac, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024 at the age of 83. She was surrounded in love with family by her side.

Ruthann was born in Detroit on July 17, 1940 to Richard and Thelma (Walsh) Farmer. She later attended Lake City High School. In the summer of 1957 she met Larry. It was love at first sight. Ruthann and Larry married in 1959 and the two have remained inseparable ever since. Their 65th wedding anniversary was four days before her passing.

Ruthann was the ultimate matriarch, the heart and soul of her family. As a mother, she lovingly raised four children. She cherished being a grandmother, and devoted those years to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ruthann is survived by her loving husband, Larry Strange of Cadillac; children, Kelly (Rick) Benson of Traverse City, Mark (Jessi) Strange of Grand Rapids, Julie (Mark) Fonger of Gaylord, and Christopher (Michelle) Strange of Portland; grandchildren, Jennifer (Dustin) Fisher, Jessica (Brian) Danley, Ashlie (John) Bergeron, Kaylinn (Jake Sian) Fonger, and Alex Strange; great-grandchildren, Charleigh Fisher and Woods Danley; sister, Sherry (Danne) Sullivan; special furry companion, Riley; and many other loving family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the summer. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
