Sheila Dawn Helsel

Sheila Dawn Helsel, 70, passed away peacefully December 30, 2025 at Hospice House in Traverse City with her family by her side.

Sheila was born April 19, 1955, to Keith and Fern Tidey in Cadillac, Michigan. She married Doug Helsel February 13, 1971 in Lake City.

Sheila worked alongside Doug and their son, Keith on their Christmas tree farm, enjoying traveling with them to Texas to sell trees each year. She and Doug enjoyed riding motorcycles, putting on a lot of miles with friends. She was a devoted mom to Keith and grandma to Emma and she always looked forward to her trips to town and Bob Evans with her sister, Barb.

Sheila is survived by her son, Keith (Amy) of Lake City; granddaughter, Emma, of Gallatin, TN; sister and best friend, Barb (Tom) Akers, of Manton; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Doug, sister, Linda Pashinski and brother, Mike Tidey.

Per her wishes, there will be no service, cremation has taken place. The family will hold a private burial in the spring at the Lake City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Munson Hospice or Hospice House of Traverse.
