Shirley Ann Baker, of Cadillac, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Maple Ridge Living Center Cadillac. She was 94.
She was born on July 4, 1930, in Sherman Township, Michigan to Glen and Edna (Keller) Weatherwax. She entered into marriage with Robert Suggate in 1952; the couple spent 27 years together until his time of passing in 1979. She later married William Baker in 1983 and enjoyed another 26 years together with him, until his passing in 2009. Shirley dedicated her career to helping others while working as a LPN. She was a talented seamstress working in many sewing factories, and in later years making countless quilts. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her flowers, playing piano, and reading. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Shirley enjoyed a close relationship with the Lord and was active in sharing her faith with others. She made friends everywhere she went, including her time spent at Kirtland Terrace and Maple Ridge Living Center. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her loving children, Karen Taylor, Debra (Tom) Whetstone, Daniel (Jean) Suggate, Sandra (Del) Workman, Vincent (Sue) Suggate, Suzan (David) Niles, and Robert (Sandy) Suggate; step-children, Janet Bunting, Judy Jacobson, Dale Marie (John) Gascho, Laura (Ralph) Coffman, and Connie (Jerry) Kimbel; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.
