Shirley Compau Obituary

Shirley Elaine Compau, 66, of  Prescott passed away on Tuesday October 14, 2025 at King Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Houghton Lake.

Shirley was born on October 11, 1959 in Midland, Michigan to Ernest and Mary (Smith) Belonga. She grew up in the Midland and Au Gres area. Shirley worked at many jobs over the years from farming, to clerking, to being a production laborer in a printing factory.  She lived in Au Gres for over 30 years and spent some time in Midland and Florida before settling in Prescott 10 years ago.  Shirley enjoyed hanging around the house with her dog, "Rag" always by her side.  Her special love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren..

Surviving Mrs. Compau are her daughter, Samantha Schlagel; two sons, Aubrey Belonga, and Samuel (and Amanda) Schlagel;  four grandchildren, Spud, Timmy, Roger, and Toot; mother, Mary Davis; step mother, Donna Belonga;  three sisters, Sherry Dixon, Roxanne Burwell,  and Tonya Brady; two brothers, Fred Johnroe, and Ted Johnroe; former daughter-in-law, Steffanie Schlagel; several nieces and nephews.  Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Aubrey Belonga; step father, Walter Davis and sister, Renee Johnroe. 

A family Celebration of Life will be held for Shirley Elaine Compau at a later date.  Memorial contributions in memory of Shirley are asked to be directed to the Ogemaw County Humane Society.
