Shirley E. (Lounsbrough) Halfacre

Shirley E. Halfacre, 93, of  Prudenville passed away on Saturday November 10, 2018 at Horizon Nursing Home in St. Helen with her loving family by her side.

Shirley was born on July 16, 1925 in Windsor, Ontario,  to Lawrence and Geraldine (Wright) Lounsbrough.  She was married on August 3, 1943 in Detroit to David Lee Halfacre. Shirley was a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII working for the Willow Run Airplane Plant.  She later worked as a waitress, retail clerk and cleaning lady.  Shirley's favorite job was a homemaker and mother of 8 children.  She was an avid bowler and former member of the Houghton Lake Eagles.  The Love of her life was being with her family.

Surviving Mrs. Halfacre are her three daughters, Judy(Wayne) Lask of Prudenville, Debbie Klein of Howell, Laura Halfacre of Houghton Lake; four sons, Dan (Barb) Halfacre of Prudenville, Alex Halfacre of St. Helen, Calvin (Nancy) Halfacre of Beaver Creek, Jerry Halfacre of OK; eighteen grandchildren, ; seven step grandchildren, ; several great grandchildren and step great grandchildren;half sister, Evelyn Shundoff of Bergland; several nieces and nephews.  Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David Lee Halfacre, daughter, Penny, and  sister, Donna Mae VonSaures. 

Funeral Services for Shirley E. Halfacre will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Tuesday November 13, 2018 from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel.   Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Cemetery, Troy, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday November 12, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel.   Memorial contributions in memory of Shirley are asked to be directed to  Compassus Hospice, 3217 M-55 suite b, West Branch, MI 48661.
