Shirley Popp Obituary

Mesick - Shirley Lorena (Stieler, Brown) Popp, born January 1, 1943, traded her airline tickets for a pair of wings of her own and departed this world at 4:39 a.m. on Saturday December 20, 2025, headed for her sun-drenched poolside lounger at Water’s Edge, Englewood, Florida.

Shirl was a devoted wife, a loving mother of two, grandmother for four, a cherished sister, and aunt to ten nieces and nephews. She was a highly educated college graduate who earned a Masters Degree in Education with an endorsement as a reading specialist. She was a successful business woman, teacher, artist, part-time fashion model, marksman in both guns and archery, and an avid Grouse, Goose, Deer, and Turkey hunter. Shirley was also a talented musician and an amazing gourmet cook. Shirley’s favorite pastimes included interior decorating, entertaining guests, engaging in various community services, strumming her Ukulele, shopping, tutoring, painting, crafting, landscaping, sharing recipes, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Her kind spirit, outgoing personality, and creative skills have left treasured memories and keepsakes for all who knew her.  Shirley’s epitaph will forever read: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

Shirley is survived by her (first) husband Richard S Brown, (second) loving husband Ron Popp Sr., son Kraig (Susan) Brown, daughter Kayle (Chris) Koepke, four grandchildren Alexis (Will) Zuhlke, Collin Brown, Caden Koepke, and Addison Koepke, adoring brothers David (Carole) Stieler, and Geoff (Laura) Stieler, step son Ron Popp Jr., step daughter Cindy (Doug) Trietch, three step-grandchildren Spencer Popp, Hayden Popp, and Max Popp, six nieces, and four nephews.  Preceding Shirley in death are her father William Ernest Stieler Sr., mother Virginia Rose (Jones) Stieler, her brother William Ernest Stieler Jr., and one nephew Steven A Stieler.
