Stephen “Stevie” Howey III, age 50, passed away suddenly at home in Houghton Lake August 31st, 2023.
Stevie was born to Steve Howey Jr. and Diedre (DeeDee) Stensrud July 31, 1973 in Grayling Hospital and he grew up in Merritt, MI. Throughout his life, Stevie lived in Merritt and in Houghton Lake, where he enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and foraging in the idyllic forests of Merritt.
Stevie loved his pets and took thoughtful care of them, like hand making a spacious cat house with two rooms. He enjoyed gardening and using his fresh veggies in cooking. He also spent time playing video games, a past time he shared with his nieces and nephews. He worked as a metal worker, studied locksmithing, and contributed to the family legacy of Christmas tree farming by planting Christmas trees.
Stevie was a passionate, funny, and intelligent man, a beloved son, brother, and uncle whose laughter will be deeply missed by his family. His family takes comfort knowing that his faith gave him strength and knowing that his pain has been eased in the arms of the Lord.
Stevie left behind his Father and Step-Mother Steve & Lisa Howey Jr.; Sisters, Angela Howey, Misty (Mark) Seal, Amber Howey, and Amy Howey; and many nieces and nephews whom he cherished, Maya LaPrad, Emily (Cameron) Elkins, Jacob LaPrad, Isaac LaPrad, Violet Carter, and great niece Leila LaPrad.
