Suzanne Marilyn Toaz

Suzanne Marilyn Toaz, 94, of  Higgins Lake passed away on Wednesday July 1, 2026 at home with her loving family by her side.

Suzanne was born on July 23, 1931 in Grand Ledge, Michigan to Donald and Marion (Wilkenson) Welch. She grew up in Grand Ledge where she graduated from Grand Ledge High School. On November 9, 1951 in Mason, Suzanne was married to Richard Keith Toaz.  Suzanne worked as a Secretary for the Lansing School District, from which she retired.  The couple moved from Holt to Higgins Lake in 1988. Suzanne was a Charter Member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church of the North, and was a member of Women of the Bible at Good Shepherd Church.  She enjoyed all types of crafting, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Suzanne worked on projects with Habitat for Humanity, 29ers Work Mission Group, and  volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul, She was an avid Detroit Lions and MSU Spartan fan.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family.

Surviving Mrs. Toaz are her daughter, Patricia Buchanan of Higgins Lake; son, Brad Toaz of Houghton Lake; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.  Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Keith Toaz; and two sons Scott Toaz, and Michael Toaz. 

Memorial Services for Suzanne Marilyn Toaz will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Thursday July 23, 2026  from Good Shepherd United Methodist Church of the North, 149 W. Robinson Lake Road, Roscommon, Visitation will be at the church from 2:00 pm until the time of the service at 3:00 pm.  Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Grand Ledge. Memorial contributions in memory of Suzanne are asked to be directed to the charity of the donor's choice. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
