William Albert Harris

William Albert Harris, 82, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Monday March 17, 2025 at The Brook of Houghton Lake.

William was born on April 19, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Earl and Sophia (Wachol) Harris. He grew up in the Detroit area graduating from Visitation High School in Detroit. William served in the Army from 1965 through 1967, during the Vietnam War. He was married on October 29, 1965 in Detroit to Mary Jean Peach. She preceded William in death in 2019. William worked as an Electrician for International Brotherhood of Electrician's Union Local 158 for his entire working career. He moved to Houghton Lake from Redford Township in 2020.  William loved to be outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and trapping. He also liked spending time tinkering with cars.

Surviving Mr. Harris are his daughter, Nancy (Tim) Grahl of Houghton Lake; three granddaughters, JoMarie, Autumn, and Violet; several nieces and nephews.  William was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Jean Harris; son, Andy; two sisters; and one brother. 

Funeral Services for William Albert Harris will be conducted at 9:00 am on Saturday March 22, 2025 from Charles Step Funeral Home, 18425 Beech Daly, Redford Township, MI  with Minister Derek Cobb officiating. Interment will be in Parkview Memorial Cemetery, Livonia. Visitation will be held on Friday March 21, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Charles Step Funeral Home, Redford Township. Memorial contributions in memory of William are asked to be directed to the family. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
