William "Bill" J. Serniuk

William "Bill" J. Serniuk, age 90, of Houghton Lake, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at The Brook of Standish with his loving wife by his side.

Bill was born on February 7, 1935, in Hamtramck, Michigan, to William and Lucy (Mushumanski) Serniuk. He retired in 1986 from Michigan Bell, where he worked in building maintenance. Bill was married on January 19, 1977, in Westland, Michigan, to Ruth A. Wessel. The couple moved to Prudenville after Bill's retirement in 1986. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he had served as an Elder. He enjoyed camping, bowling, hunting, fishing, and playing dominoes.  

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Ruth Serniuk, his dog Abby, and a host of church family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, children, Debbie, Kathy, David, and Billy, and a brother.

Per Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held in the spring. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.christler-holdship.com
