Edna M. Stockwell

November 11, 1927 ~ June 24, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old


Traverse City - Edna Mae Stockwell, formerly of Manton and Lansing, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Munson Hospice House, with family by her side. She was 89.

Edna was born on November 11, 1927, in Celina, Ohio to Edward and Ada (Kennard) Eichenauer.  She entered into marriage with William C. Stockwell on August 19, 1946 in Cadillac. 

Edna attended the County Line School through the 8th grade before moving on to Manton High School.  Her family eventually relocated after 10th grade and she became a graduate of Jackson High.  Edna remained in Jackson to live and work until her marriage in 1946.  Edna began a career at Kickaway in Cadillac and then moved to Lansing.  While in Lansing, Edna, worked for Michigan Tailoring before going to work as a tailor for Holden Ried's, spanning 13 years. Upon retirement Edna and her husband, Bill, moved back to Manton. Edna then found her way to Traverse City and became a resident at Glen Eagle Assisted Living where she has remained since 2013.  

Edna enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilting, and reading.  She was a member of the Colfax Community Church, the Manton Senior Center, as well as, Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City.  Most of all she enjoyed family and especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Edna is survived by loving family, her children,  Linda (William) DeClercq of Cheboygan, Larry (Laurie) Stockwell of Midland, William (Beth) Stockwell, Jr. of Gulliver, MI., Randy (Jennifer) Stockwell of Manton; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 2002; father, Edward Eichenauer; mother, Ada Gallihugh; a half sister, Anna Mae Bennett; half brothers, Stanley Herron and Robert Truesdale; and a daughter-in-law, Katherine Stockwell. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home in Cadillac, due to the current renovation of the Manton Funeral Home.  Officiating will be Pastor Ben Pike. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 10 am until the start of the service also at the funeral home in Cadillac. Interment will take place at the Liberty Township Cemetery in Manton. 

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Colfax Community Church or the Munson Hospice House.
