James L. Miller, age 80, of Houghton Lake passed away on Friday October 20, 2017 at home.

James was born on July 1, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan to Kenneth and Leona (Kruth) Miller. He married Betty Stanton on May 2, 1959 in Saginaw. Jim retired from General Motors and the couple moved to Houghton Lake in 1992 from Saginaw. He was a member of the Saginaw Moose, the Houghton Lake Eagles, he enjoyed bowling but since retiring Jim became the neighborhood handyman where he enjoyed mowing grass and having daily conversations with his neighbors. 

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Betty Miller, sons; Michael (Pam) Miller and Mark (Carol) Miller, daughters; Tammy (Mary Urbassik) Miller, Penny (Thomas) Christians and Kristi Miller; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, brother; Dwayne (Carol) Miller, sister; Marilyn (Rocky) Anscomb, brother; Delbert (Phyllis) Miller and brother; Gary (Marlene) Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Barb and brother; Keith. 

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Windemere Lodge of Houghton Lake on Saturday October 28, 2017 at 1 pm. Memorial contributions in memory of James are asked to be directed to the American Cancer Society for cancer Research at www.cancer.org.
