It's said there is a wondrous place
Where all the angels dwell
A place far beyond our vision
A place where beauty fell.

I've heard it said the angels fly
Throughout this place all day
and if you stop and listen
You can hear the harps they play.

I've never seen an angel
I've never seen one fly
But I just know somehow they're watching
From a majestic place up high.

I have heard it said they're always with us
though some days we seem to fail
but when we reach out to touch a heart..
we truly walk where angels dwell.

....

Somewhere in the clouds
Somewhere far away
Is the castle that I long for
It's only a dream away.

These are the things dreams are made of
Of tall castles in the sky
So come join me in my journey
Where doves and angels fly...

I just simply cannot believe that this could happen to a man who was willing to help anybody who knew or didn't even know. He was a really cool guy and an even better teacher. When I was in his class during sophomore year, I started out really strong and then began to slow down and almost started failing his class. He noticed this immediately and came to me one day and asked me what was going on and how he could help. I told him it was some family stuff that I would rather not talk about. He proceeded to help me throughout the rest of the school year and I ended up passing his class. I can never forget a man like this. Nobody even half the man he was deserves this. Why do these things have to happen to all of the best people.... Rest in peace Mr Powell. I' never forget what you did for me and everybody else.

I am so glad to have known Marvin as a teacher who was loved by both of my kids, who think the world of him, as does every student that knew him, as a coworker, who was loved by us all, and a friend who made me smile every morning when he came through the office. We were all blessed to hve him in our lives, he will be missed, and always thought of with love and a smile. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends.

Words cannot express my sincere sympathy for your loss. My daughters Monica, Amber and Tracy and I have such fond memories of Marvin. Summers playing in Grandma and Grandpa Powell's hay loft on 12 Mile Road, Marvin's boyhood crush on Amber, his beautiful smile and horn-rimmed glasses. He was such a fine, young man. May God comfort you with peace during this time of great loss. Praying for you all.
