Mount Dora, Florida - Marvin W. Powell, Jr., a teacher originally from Manton, MI, passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2017 at his home in Umatilla, FL. He was 44.

Marvin was born in Traverse City, MI on February 12, 1973 to Marvin and Ruth Ann (Moffit) Powell. He graduated from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant in 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Marvin then moved to Florida in 2007, where he worked at Mount Dora High School for the past 10 years teaching History. He was beloved by his students and fellow faculty. Marvin loved animals and especially cherished his two dogs. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Marvin is survived by his parents, Marvin and Ruth Ann Powell; two sisters, Paige (David) Wetherell and Sally Mussolff; brother, William (Damie) Powell; nieces, Karlie, Tatum, Abby, Dylan and Melody; two dogs, Ava and Lucy, to whom he adored;

Per the families wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
