Dr. Tom was too good to be true!! He and Jan always had time for me, whether at the grocery store on on their front porch...If anyone loved his family, it was Tom. He was an asset to his community and this earth. Best to Jan and the family.

I am so said for the family, I have known Tom and Jan for many years, they were like our special friends and someone we could always count on, Tom and I did alot of things, fished in Canada for ten years, shared stories and the love of our families. I moved away but thought of Jan and Tom often and talked about our friendship,,,So Sorry I did not get to visit with them before this happened, just thought they would always be there....Sorry for your loss.

I met Tom in 1947 when he and I were both working on the C&O car ferries. We became best of buddies and lifelong friends. I was his best man when he and Jan got married. I have never known a nicer person than Tom, nor known of a more perfect marriage than theirs. I feel so fortunate to have had such special friends. Tom and Jan will always have a special place in my heart.

I have been very fortunate to be Tom and Jan's next door neighbor on Leeson Avenue for the past 42 years. I am certain that Tom and Greg are standing beside a heavenly golden fence and having a long conversation about most any subject they happen to think of......

Jan and family, it is with great sadness that we heard of Dr. Tom's passing. You know how important he was to our family, we all loved him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you struggle with this loss. I know how much he enjoyed all of the grandkids, he was sure to keep us posted on what everyone was doing.
Dr. Tom was like an uncle to me, I always saw him at the office and loved talking to him. He and dad made a pretty good team!!!! I'm so grateful that we saw him in August when we were in town, if I could, please know I would be there for the service.
Our love, Lynn, Bruce and Mari

Jan. These are my thoughts as I think of Tom:

A Comparison of 3 aspects of Tom’s life and our reading.

Our reading comes from Ecclesiastes 3. It is the only book in the bible where the translation of the name of the book, Ecclesiastes, is used instead of its original Latin/Greek name Kohelet (traditionally translated as "Teacher" or "Preacher") but it fits Tom's actions.

The Greatest Commandment. Matthew 22: When the Pharisees [a scholar of the law] tested Jesus by asking, β€œTeacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said to him, β€œYou shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (United States Conference of Bishops website)

Tom’s life reflected all three points made in Matthew 22 & and Ecclesiastes 3.
1. (the greatest commandment) I seldom if ever saw him miss church for his love of God and church;
2. (the 2nd is like onto the first commandment) He was the greatest of neighbor; one that cannot be replaced;
3. And the meaning of Ecclesiastes (Kohelet in Hebrew means teacher)… I seldom had a conversation with him over the fence or sitting on the front porch when I didn’t learn and he taught.

Jim/Sue, thank you so much for this, plus your reading yesterday and all your support as the best neighbors a son could ask to have for his parents when he has left the coop. πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡I will see you before I leave on Monday. Michael

I am saddened to see "Doc" has passed. He was a kind, generous man who will be missed by many. I still have pics he took of me at local races. What a nice thing to do. I will miss our short sport chats when I would run into him in town. He was the type of person that makes Cadillac special.

I worked at the dental office and also trimmed trees for Dr. Moriarty for several years. When I would see him I would call him Dr. Moriarty and he would say call me Tom and I will call you Tom. That was the greeting we shared for many years and I will miss seeing him and have him call me Tom. He was a 1st class man and always upbeat about life. He loved talking about his sons and their families. He was my wife and my dentist for many years. I will never forget how great a man he was. Thoughts and prayers for the family , Tom Darrow

In vain we call. He has passed into the light which is beyond the valley of the shadow of death. We realize that in the midst of life we are in death; that He who watches over all our destinies will again, on the last great day, unite the chain of Fraternal Love so recently broken. To our departed member, Dr Tom Moriarty, may his soul rest in peace.
