Brenda J. Hower of Lake City passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.

Brenda was born June 9, 1941 in Lake City to Carl and Donna (Becker) Wiinikainen.

She graduated from McBain Rural Agricultural School in McBain and married Donald Hower July 23, 1960 in Lake City.

Brenda worked together as a partner with her husband in Hower Auctioneering for 48 years as well as a bookkeeper with Bowman and Rogers in Lake City for 30 years.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the movies and loved her friends, family and community.
Brenda was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Lake City.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 55 years, Don, son Darin (Carla) Hower of Lake City and daughter Druzanne Hower of Cadillac and grandchildren: Andrea Hower and Christian Eling.
She is also survived by a sister Vonna (Keith) Gillow of Traverse City and a brother Dallas (Gail) Wiinikainen of McBain, brother in law Leonard (Jill) Hower of Traverse City and sister in law Ilene Musselman of Manton.
Brenda was also special Auntie to many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jeannie Wiinikainen and
father and mother in law Leonard and Alice Hower.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 14, 2015 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Rosanne Anderson officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home in Lake City.
Burial will take place in the Lake City Cemetery.
