George Gray, age 84 of Novi passed away at his home March 20, 2014.
George was born in Lake City June 13, 1929 to Harry and Margaret (Nixon) Gray.
He graduated from Lake City High School and Michigan State University.
He was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War.
George worked in residential construction and built several homes in Lake City
and Metro Detroit.
He was an avid Spartan fan and enjoyed fishing and especially deer camp in Merritt.
George was the proud owner of a red 1950 Jeepster that he continually worked on to restore to
it’s former glory.
He was a member of the Jackson Koster Gray American Legion Post 300 in Lake City.
George is survived by his wife Patricia, a daughter Anna (Rick) VanSwol of Grand Rapids
and a son Raymond Gray of Novi. Two sisters also survive him: Agnes Baker of Grand Rapids
and Patricia Foster of Lake City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Raymond (Bud) Gray and sisters
Marguerite Whitney and Mary Aguirre.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Young Funeral Home,
with Pat Smith officiating and the American Legion conducting military honors.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 27, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
Burial will take place in the spring at the Lake City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Jackson Koster Gray American Legion
Post 300 in Lake City.
