Cadillac, Michigan - Harold Dean Whaley, of Cadillac passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Samaritas Senior Living. He was 87.

Harold was born on November 21, 1929, in Cadillac, Michigan to Gerald and Verna (Kanouse) Whaley. He answered the call of duty serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Harold entered into marriage with the former Angeline Russ on January 6, 1951 in Cadillac. He spent his career working for Michigan Consolidated Gas Company for 32 years, until his time of retirement in 1987. Harold enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends. In their retirement, Harold and Angeline traveled around the 50 states by motor home and have many special memories with friends across Arizona, Texas and even Alaska. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harold was a faithful member of St. Ann Catholic Church and made many good friends through the church.

Harold is survived by his wife, Angeline Marie Whaley of Cadillac; three children, Deb (Bruce) Johnson of Cadillac, Jerry (Sara) Whaley of Clayton, NC and Dennis Whaley of Cadillac; seven grandchildren, Heather (Marty) Smith, Amy (Tony) Sigmon, Lindsay (CJ) Van Wieren, Jeff (Bethany) Whaley, Chad (Kim) Whaley, Brianna Whaley and Travis Whaley; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Whaley; and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son Greg "Whales", his parents and two sisters, Ardis Dillon and Janice Fuller.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home. Memorial services will be conducted on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior at St. Ann Catholic Church. Officiating will be Rev. Michael Janowski and Msgr. Murphy. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Ann School or Munson Cadillac Hospice.
