Zephyrhills, Florida- Irene Mae Truxton, of Marion passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Florida Hospital in Zephryhills, Florida. She was 85.

Irene was born on October 2, 1932, in Marion, Michigan, to Emery and Ida (Martinson) Michell.  She entered into marriage with Norman Truxton on September 7, 1957 in Angola, Indiana. The couple spent 40 years together until his time of passing in 1997. She attended Baker College in Lansing for a few years studying writing and English. Irene enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, and mushrooming. She was an avid seamstress who enjoyed sewing and quilting. Irene loved to play card games, especially euchre and did not like to lose. Irene spent her life working as a farm-hand, raising, delivering and selling calves. She started her career working at Riverside Electric for many years and then later worked as a cashier for Merrfield Grocery Store. She was a faithful member of the Marion United Methodist Church and the F.O.E #4087 for many years.

Irene is survived by her three children, Mark (Raylene) Truxton of Texas, Cindy (special friend, Dave Bergey) Truxton of Marion, Tom (Gina) Truxton of Belmont; daughter-in-law, Marsha (Scott) Truxton-Frye; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Thora (Richard) Blackledge; and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Ida; her husband, Norman; one son, Robert Truxton; one brother, Elmer Michell; and two sisters, Lila Hartzog and Luella Edwards.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior also at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Mort. Interment will take place at Middle Branch Township Cemetery in the spring.
