Cadillac, Michigan - Marion Arthur Humphrey, longtime resident of Manton, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Green Acres Retirement Living in Cadillac. He was 91.

Mike, as he was known to most, was born at home on the farm in Springdale Township, Manistee County on April 20, 1925 to parents William and Bridah (Wallace) Humphrey. 

On October 8, 1950, Mike, entered into marriage with the former Elizabeth Jean Crawford, in her hometown of Beulah, MI.  Mike was a proud member of the 1944 graduating class of Compass High School  From the young age of 17, Mike began an impressive career as a fire officer with the Dept. of Natural Resources that spanned over 40 years.  He eventually retired in 1984.  Mike was passionate for the outdoors, from clearing fire roads to assisting conservation officers looking for poachers, he enjoyed his job.  He spent the vast majority of his time working out of the DNR base in Manton.

Mike built the home at the family farm where he, along side his wife Betty, raised four children.  He created many wonderful memories camping, fishing and hunting with family and friends.  After his eventual retirement, Mike was able to return to farming and raising cattle.  He will be deeply missed for his conservation efforts, by the Manton community, his newly found neighbors at Green Acres, and family.  

He is survived by his loving family; his son, Michael Humphrey; daughters, Patricia Humphrey and Suzanne Teske; grandchildren, Tina Tidey, Jeff Humphrey, Matt, Andrew and Brandon Teske, Jessica Obermiller, Tiffany and Elizabeth Humphrey; great-grandchildren, Alex and Rachel Tidey, and Elijah Daddario; as well as many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his of over 56 years,  Elizabeth Jean Humphrey, and his son, Mark Humphrey in 2012.

A memorial gathering for friends and family will be held from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Hall-Holdship Funeral Home in Manton.  
Interment will take place at the Fairview Cemetery in Manton at a later date in the spring. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Michigan.
