Robert "Bob" J. Bechill

December 19, 1966 ~ December 30, 2017 (age 51) 51 Years Old

Robert “Bob” Jennings Bechill 51, passed away unexpectedly in his home on December 30, 2017.

He was born to Ronald and Betty Bechill on December 19, 1966 in Royal Oak, Michigan. The family moved to Houghton Lake, Michigan when Bob was in middle school and he graduated from Houghton Lake High School in 1985. Many people in high school knew him as “Golden Toes”, when the winning kick actually won the game. Bob still holds the Houghton Lake Varsity Football record for Kicking - PAT Season – 29.

Bob attended Central Michigan University and went on to pursue a career in sales, following in his father’s footsteps. He started selling RV’s when he was 20 years old and then cars and trucks. The last 10+ years he was the Sales Manager for Jim Navarre Ford Lincoln in Alma, Michigan where he gained another family of dear friends.

Bob married Tonya Brodie (Canute) in 1992 at the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church.  He was blessed with four beautiful children. Layken Ashlee (23), Brent Jennings (20), Ty Jensen (17) and Carlie Schae (11). Bob and Tonya were divorced, however remained good friends with one common goal in mind…their children’s best interest. Bob was truly an amazing father and was so proud to be their dad. Nothing meant more to him than the love of his kids and they adored him.

Bob is survived by his loving parents Ron and Betty Bechill, sisters Kathy Wyckoff (John), Patty Bechill (John Fyolek) and his nieces and nephews Alexis Bechill, Tanner Fyolek, Taryn Wyckoff and Carter Wyckoff. Bob is also survived by his girlfriend Connie Youngert and her daughter Sam Esch.

Bob was a major sports enthusiast, supporting his home state teams in addition to many others. He was a huge Michigan State fan which made his alumni mother proud. He enjoyed every opportunity he had to watch sporting events in person, especially the games that his children were involved in. He was always on the sidelines cheering them on whether to a victory or with compassion after defeat.

He had a passion for music and knew how to rock out! He played the guitar and had the vocal chords to accompany each and every song. He was an avid concert goer and enjoyed rock bands from the 80’s and today. He dedicated himself to his family, friends and customers. He will be missed by many.
