Thomas R. Burge, 74, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Sunday February 12, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was born on January 26, 1943 in Flint, Michigan to Thomas and Unice (Ecarius) Burge. Tom grew up and graduated from school in the Flint area. He worked as a Distributor at Fisher Body for General Motors from the age of eighteen until he retired. Tom moved to Houghton Lake from Burton in 1990. On May 7, 1995 in Burton, Tom married Carol  Frankhouse. Tom served as a member of Markey Township Planning Commission for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and NASCAR and bowling.

Surviving Mr. Burge are his loving wife of 21 years, Carol  Burge of Houghton Lake; two step sons, John Stogiera of Houghton Lake and Matthew(Anna) Stogiera of Houghton Lake; seven grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, Jordan, Ryan, Dominic, Faith, and Logan; mother in law, RoseMarie Frankhouse of Houghton Lake; and many extend family members and friends. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents. 

Funeral Services for Thomas R Burge will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday February 17, 2017 from Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel with Rev. Dr. James N. Kent officiating. Interment will be in Crestview Cemetery, Markey Township in the spring. Visitation will be held on Thursday February 16, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel.
